Are you a young person who writes poetry or spoken word?

Submit your poem, inspired by Black History, to our Young Poets Competition.

Win your school a workshop with writer and actor, Sherise Blackman.

Age categories: 7-11 and 11-16

Deadline for submissions: 30 October 2020, 1pm.

Rules

  • Only one entry per person

  • The theme of the poem must be inspired by Black History and culture

  • Up to a maximum 500 words per poem or 90 seconds for Spoken word video

  • Send your poem as a .doc or .png format

  • Files must be less than 50mb

  • Deadline 30th October 2020 by 1pm

Terms and Conditions

  • By submitting the poem you have consent from your parents/guardians to take part in the competition.

  • You allow A Better Community to publish your poem through social media, your name and details of your identity can be hidden at this stage if requested.

  • The winning authors can be mentioned by name, subject to parental/guardian consent.

  • If you are a submitting teacher, you may request that your school's name is not displayed.
